Doug has had a fantastic and successful career working in a variety of fields. His first position outside of college was working for Salomon Brother as an analyst. After several high-ranking positions at a variety of high-profile financial companies, Doug had decided to follow his entrepreneurial spirit and start PhotoOne Software, where he was CEO. A photo editing software suite designed for professional photographers, PhotoOne was eventually sold to StudioPlus Software.
He then went on to serve in executive-level positions at both DWM Consulting and Laureate Biopharmaceutical Services.
Following his passion for software, Doug MacFaddin then moved on to become the director of business development at Pando Networks, a media company dedicated to cloud-based services and storing of media, including video games and other software. Once the company was purchased by Reloaded Games, Doug became the vice president of corporate development. This is where Doug’s passion for video games truly came to fruition. Since his childhood, video games had a profound effect Doug. He fondly remembers playing the classic video games of yesterday that helped make the industry what it is today. Classics like The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Brothers and Donkey Kong made him fall in love with the industry.
At first, video games were relatively simple in their scope. However, in the early-to-mid 2000s, video games became increasingly cinematic, including motion-captured CGI cutscenes, large, engrossing plots and Hollywood talent. Doug MacFaddin had always admired this about video games; their ability to tell stories and immerse players into a fictional world is unmatched.
Doug is a gamer through and through. He loves everything about video games and the culture that surrounds them; consoles, games, characters, voice actors, hardware, technology, everything. While he has played at least one video game in every genre you could think of, he has a particular love for action adventure and racing games. Titles like the Uncharted series and Need For Speed are some of his favorite games.
Doug truly appreciates where the video gaming industry is heading. With triple-A, blockbuster titles like Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto rivaling even Hollywood’s biggest and shiniest films to more subtle, arthouse pieces like Journey and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, the video gaming industry truly has something for everybody.
Some of Doug’s favorite video games include: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario World, Tetris, Donkey Kong Country, Need For Speed, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Rayman Legends and FIFA 17.
This blog is dedicated to all things video game-related. From industry news to latest trends and reviews, there isn’t anything Doug won’t talk about.
